NEW YORK CONVENTION, 1958.

Date of accession: 12 May 1986.

Entry into force for : 10  August 1986.

 

Upon accession:
[replaced]"The Government of Canada declares, with respect to the Province of Alberta, that it will apply the Convention only to the recognition and enforcement of awards made in the territory of another Contracting State.
[replaced]"The Government of Canada declares that it will apply the Convention only to differences arising out of legal relationships, whether contractual or not, which are considered as commercial under the national law of Canada."
The above was replaced by a declarations received by the UN Secretary-General on 20 May 1987:
"The Government of Canada declares that it will apply the Convention only to differences arising out of legal relationships, whether contractual or not, which are considered as commercial under the laws of Canada, except in the case of the Province of Quebec where the law does not provide for such limitation.
[later withdrawn]"The Government of Canada declares, with respect to the Province of Saskatchewan, that it will apply the Convention only to the recognition and enforcement of awards made in the territory of another Contracting State.
On 25 November 1988, the Government of Canada notified the UN Secretary-General of its decision to withdraw, with effect from that date, the second part of the immediately above declaration.
