NEW YORK CONVENTION, 1958.

Date of signature: 10 June 1958. Date of ratification: 15 November 1979.

Entry into force for : 13 February 1980.

 

Declaration:
"The Government of Jordan shall not be bound by any awards which are made by Israel or to which an Israeli is a party."

In a communication received by the UN Secretary-General on 23 June 1980, the Government of Israel made the declared the following declaration: "The Government of Israel has noted the political character of the statement made by the Government of Jordan. In the view of the Government of Israel, this Convention is not the proper place for making such political pronouncements. Moreover, the said declaration cannot in any way affect whatever obligations are binding upon Jordan under general international law or under particular conventions.
"Insofar as concerns the substance of the matter, the Government of Israel will adopt towards the Government of Jordan an attitude of complete reciprocity."
